15 november 2026 loop ik de halve marathon van Kasterlee voor mijn metekindje Marcel.
Marcel is 5 jaar. Een lieve, grappige, gevoelige jongen, de trotse grote broer van August en bovenal een kind dat gewoon zorgeloos zou moeten kunnen spelen en opgroeien.
Bij Marcel werd een agressief medulloblastoom, groep 3, met MYC-amplificatie en verspreiding van tumorcellen via het hersen- en ruggenmergvocht (M1) vastgesteld.
De tumor in zijn hoofd kon volledig worden verwijderd, maar Marcel staat nog voor een ontzettend zwaar behandeltraject.
Daarom willen wij ook geld inzamelen voor KickCancer. Geen enkel kind dit zou moeten meemaken en omdat onderzoek zo ontzettend hard nodig is.

We therefore financially support scientific research, and bring together the drive, inspiration and knowledge of everyone involved. From researchers, doctors and parents to politicians and pharmaceutical companies.
Only a joint effort can ensure that children with cancer are cured and better cured.
Your gift helps fund either a research project selected by KickCancer, in line with strict evaluation criteria, or our advocacy and awareness activities. Every new research project, policy milestone or patient empowerment initiative contributes to what truly matters: better treatments, more innovation and real hope for children, adolescents and young adults (AYA) with cancer.
Through FIGHT KIDS CANCER, a European initiative dedicated to paediatric oncology, we support innovative research projects. In Belgium, we work closely with the Belgian Society for Paediatric Haematology Oncology (BSPHO) to support the participation of Belgian paediatric oncology centres in international academic clinical trials.
Our advocacy and awareness activities are just as important. They aim to ensure that pharmaceutical companies are required or incentivised to invest more in research in paediatric cancer, that governments invest more in research infrastructure, and that other NGOs active in the cancer field play their part in advancing research in paediatric cancer.
