Begin september 2022 waren wij zo een gelukkig gezin met onze vrolijke baby Alizée van 10 maanden en haar zusje Victoire on the way. Midden september kregen we te horen dat 'Zeetje' een zeer agressieve tumor had, minstens anderhalf jaar van de zwaarste therapie ging moeten ondergaan voor 50% overlevingskans.
De rollercoaster begon:
200 nachten in het ziekenhuis
Chemo, Operatie, Nog meer Chemo, Zoveel mogelijk werken, Bestraling, Bevalling, Opvang zoeken en niet altijd vinden, Immunotherapie.
In december 2023 waren we eindelijk klaar en het mooie leven lachte weer.
Op de einde therapie controle scans, zagen ze weer een tumor. Een tweede operatie mocht niet baten en in april 2024 hebben wij ons kostbaarste bezit moeten afgeven. Slaapzacht mijn liefste Zeetje.
Niemand zou dit moeten meemaken, dit is volledig tegen de natuur in.
Deze nobele missie is waar KickCancer voor staat, elk kind genezen van kanker.

Your gift will finance either a research project selected by KickCancer in compliance with strict appraisal rules or our advocacy and awareness activities which aim at sustainably fixing the system, so that paediatric cancer no longer be left behind the innovation train.
Our research projects are innovative and European. They are selected in the framework of the FIGH KIDS CANCER European call for projects, about which you will find more information here.
Our advocacy and awareness activities are equally important. They aim at ensuring that pharmaceutical companies be mandated or incentivised to finance more research against paediatric cancers, that governments finance more research infrastructure and that other NGOs involved in the field of cancer take their part in the fight against paediatric cancers.
