En moyenne chaque année en Belgique, 13 nouveaux cas de cancer sont diagnostiqués parmi 100.000 enfants âgés de moins de 15 ans. Cela signifie qu’en Belgique 300 à 350 enfants développent chaque année une leucémie ou une tumeur maligne (Institut Roi Albert II, s.d ; Belgian Cancer Registry, 2013).

KickCancer finance des essais cliniques pour que de nouveaux médicaments soient testés sur les enfants dans des conditions sûres et éthiques et de la recherche fondamentale ou translationnelle pour mieux comprendre l’origine et le fonctionnement des cancers pédiatriques, ce qui permettra, à terme, d’identifier et développer de nouveaux médicaments pour les cancers pédiatriques.

FIGHT KIDS CANCER is a European call for projects that we launched together with Imaginefor Margo (France) and Fondatioun Kriibskrank Kanner (Luxembourg).

On April 22nd, we officially closed the application period with 23 projects submitted by research teams coming from 9 different European countries –while each project involves a collaboration with several other European teams.

We shall officially announce the selected projects mid-June, when the appraisal by independent international experts will have been completed.
