Elke kinderkanker is een zeldzame ziekte.
Er zijn ongeveer 16 types kinderkanker (leukemie, hersen- en ruggenmergtumoren, neuroblastoom, lymfoom, rhabdomyosarcoom, osteosarcoom, …). Elk type is onderverdeeld in verschillende subgroepen. In totaal gaat het om 100 verschillende pediatrische aandoeningen. Elk van hen vereist specifieke wetenschappelijke aandacht.
